Thought he was a Smartie but it’s Cheerios… Nestle chief executive sacked over affair with junior colleague Laurent Freixe dismissed after boardroom inquiry revealed ‘undisclosed romantic relationship’ Nestlé has sacked its chief executive with immediate effect after it emerged he had an affair with a junior colleague. The consumer goods giant said Laurent Freixe, 63, had been dismissed after a boardroom investigation found he had an “undisclosed romantic relationship with a direct subordinate”. Mr Freixe had been with the KitKat maker for 40 years and had only been made chief executive last September to help steady the Swiss group following a series of scandals. “This was a necessary decision. Nestlé’s values and governance are strong foundations of our company. I thank Laurent for his years of service at Nestlé,” said Paul Bulcke, the company’s chairman.
