"The City of London Corporation had its privileges stripped by a writ quo warranto under Charles II in
1683, but they were later restored and confirmed by Act of Parliament under William III and Mary II in 1690, after the Glorious Revolution.[14]"

One small paragraph to cover the invasion and overthrow of James 2nd, son of beheaded Charles 1st in what was effectively a financial coup d'etat, financed by european bankers. The 'glorious revolution' not taught in any school history, involved the wily William of Orange (dutch) invading the Uk, landing at Torbay Devon, and marching leisurely on London arriving in the capital many weeks later. The English, only 40 years on from the civil war and not any great fans of who ran things did nothing to prevent the overthrow - ostensibly to keep England Protestant and not shift back to Catholicism, but really the prize was to shift offshore (of Holland) the free trade tax haven money launderin' set up that the state within a state of the City of London became.
