Mushroom Keep em in the dark n feed em Shyte News of the Day.

Blast furnaces can be shut down. It's called maintenace - replaced cracked firebrick etc.

Today's mushroom disinformation UK gov spin is : if furnaces go out "it will cost us 1 billion in closure costs" (laying off retraining workforce, cleanin' up site etc).
Yes, shutting down a furnace means you can never fire it up again. Who knew? And therefore even more incredible that people were ever able to light it, back then, when fold wore flat caps, had outside toilets abnd crappy old black and white tvs. How people were ever able to even conceive of the idea of making steel using coke and limestone in the first place with concepts of metallurgy, forging to create strength, all long before CAD and calculators ever appeared.
I mean if they'd had labour front bench to help them there's no way they'd ever have got the job done, we'd still be in a stone age, even iron being too complicated and advanced for Anglea Raynor and Trisha Goddard [Kier Staircarpet, surely? ed] Even pig iron would be beyond these people, they make Mao look like a metal chemist master, and another thing I had that Joan Collins in the back o the cab last week

Trip Through Time The Inside Tour of the Ford Motor Company River Rouge Plant Original Film [alternative title, Labour/UK blob are Complete Wankers]
