Did someone mention this… Explosion rocks Kerch Bridge to Crimea A bomb planted by Ukrainian spies has rocked Russia’s Kerch bridge that links occupied Crimea to the mainland. The small-scale attack, carried out by Ukraine’s security service early this morning, allegedly involved 1,100kg of explosives covertly placed under its base months ago. “Today, without any casualties among the civilian population, at 4:44 in the morning the first explosive device was activated!,” Ukraine’s SBU said in a statement. The Kerch bridge, also known as the Crimean bridge, acts as a vital supply route to Russian forces on the peninsula, which Moscow annexed in 2014, and has long been one of Kyiv’s main targets of the war. Footage, released by the SBU, showed an explosion originating from underwater at the base of the bridge. The scale of the damage is unclear, but does not appear to have significantly impaired the heavily-fortified structure. Pictures later showed a chunk of the bridge’s metal barriers lying across one of the lanes, but traffic has reportedly resumed. The bridge was previously targeted by Ukraine in 2022 and 2023. “So today we continued this tradition underwater. There is no place for any illegal Russian facilities on the territory of our state,” the SBU added. Edited on 03/06/2025 at 15:34:02.
