I can’t cope with modernity. Just driven a hire car that a mate from foreign has whilst in Blighty. An MG of some sort, big thing that drives smoothly and quietly but has all the character of FTD’s left little toenail. Plugged my phone in and eventually managed to get Spotify to play, but could I find a volume control on the massive screen? No!!! Then while fiddling with the high beam on a country road I managed to turn all the lights off, at which point the 2 interior screens decided to compensate by turning fully white with the blinding intensity of an exploding sun. Eventually managed to get the lights back on. Then a few minutes later the car (which has a camera watching you) decided I looked tired (I was probably looking away trying to find a volume control) and set off a warning with a flashing coffee cup symbol. That was one of many warning dings and dongs and claxons that kept sounding for terrible things like exceeding a speed limit or changing lanes without indicating. Effing control freak of a machine. Think I’ll stick with my current fleet.
